Impossible Metals x Eureka 2
The future of resource extraction is being reimagined beneath the ocean’s surface.
We spent a day with Impossible Metals as they brought their cutting-edge robotic technology to Canadian waters near Halifax.
Their team is developing a system designed to harvest critical minerals like nickel, cobalt, and copper from the deep ocean floor nearly four miles below the surface. At the center of it all is Eureka 2, an autonomous underwater vehicle powered by AI, capable of identifying and collecting individual mineral nodules while avoiding marine life like corals and sponges.
What stood out most wasn’t just the engineering, it was the intention behind it. A clear focus on doing this responsibly. Moving away from traditional, more destructive methods and toward a future where innovation and environmental stewardship can coexist.
This project is a glimpse into a complex global challenge and the people working to solve it.
Proud to bring this story to life.
